I don't want the line to be flamboyant, I want to keep it classy and something that metrosexual men can be happy to use and try and shift away from the stigma that is attached with males using grooming products and male makeup.

Initial Ideas.. Products.
After talking to my friends and family about my idea I decided I defiantly wanted the product line to be clean, in discreet packaging and just 'essential' products i.e. concealer, bronzer, tinted moisturiser, brow & beard filler and lip moisturiser.
I don't want the line to be flamboyant, I want to keep it classy and something that metrosexual men can be happy to use and try and shift away from the stigma that is attached with males using grooming products and male makeup.

My Initial Ideas..
Back in November our class took a trip to Nottingham for a lecture.. The lecture was in relation to the modern man and how men and women's roles were reversing. Gone are the days when a women was expected and even wanted to stay at home and look after the babies, now we have seen an increase in men who are taking the paternity pay and becoming full time stay at home Dad's.
This lecture really got me thinking about my final campaign and my marketing report. Not only did the lecture speak about the rise in stay-at-home Dads, it also delved in to how the 'millennium man' was becoming more image-consious and more aware of grooming and taking care of himself. According to this lecture cave-man esque looks were a thing of the past!
After attending this lecture in first semester of final year, we got given a digital review report, which the aim was to look at a certain product area and compare different market level brands. I chose cosmetics and one of my middle market brands was the famous MAC cosmetics. When I began researching MAC I came to learn that their mantra was 'All ages, all sexes, all races.' My immediate reaction to this was to focus my marketing report and my final campaign around this. The fact MAC claim to cater to men (it's in the strap line) but don't have a male makeup range struck a cord with me, especially since the likes of Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford have recently launched male grooming lines.
This is where my original idea came from.. I would take the brand MAC and launch a male grooming line, MAC Men.

Marketing Report Brief..
You are required to produce a written and visual marketing report
based on your own research, development and final solutions of a promotional
campaign for a product/ service of your choice. Your report should include
evidence of in-depth research, an introduction, customer and brand profiles,
market segmentation, SMART objectives, corporate responsibility, budget details,
rationale and a thorough explanation of the 6P’s supported by relevant,
correctly formatted references and a well-formed conclusion. Your report should
also include visual imagery to illustrate points discussed in your written
work.
Attention should be paid to methodology; marketing objectives, sustainable causes/elements and a literature
review and bibliography should be included to provide evidence of background
reading.
Appropriate
guidelines and instructions will be issued.
You will need to discuss progress and direction with your tutor on a
weekly basis in order to keep the project on line and you
must constantly refer to the marketing report guidelines, which will be
supplied. Creative formats must be discussed as a proposal and approved
before they are produced for the final submission.
Final Campaign Brief..
Choose a
fashion/lifestyle/brand related product or service for a particular market level and promote it in the style of your choice,
paying attention to promotional styles
and techniques, which you feel, are forward thinking, innovative and
appropriate. You may want to consider the development of a totally new concept
for your product/promotional remit. In the initial stages, explore ideas
thoroughly and think outside the box.
The product you choose
should be discussed and agreed with your project tutor. You will need to concentrate on following areas:
- Research
information, which clearly illustrates project development (ideas,
concepts, promotional ideas, etc) and market relevance.
- Customer/lifestyle/brand
profile – Take note of the current and future situation/s
- Concept/product
development (how will you visualise?)
- Promotional
design development, which includes exploration of the appropriate use of
media – consider customer engagement and digital promotion
- Production
of promotional items and presentation of final integrated campaign to
include evidence of the use of the 6Ps in an edited report format.
- Final
visuals and tangible items (Press pack, product, postcards, etc…)
